Mythology
Artemis was the daughter of Zeus and Leto, and the twin sister of Apollo. She was born on the island of Delos and helped her mother deliver Apollo immediately after her own birth. She asked her father Zeus to grant her eternal virginity and a bow and arrows like her brother's. Artemis was fiercely protective of her chastity and punished those who threatened it, such as Actaeon, whom she transformed into a stag to be torn apart by his own hunting dogs after he saw her bathing.
